Cooling water inlet at a barge (10) comprised of a chamber (14), which is divided into sub chambers (16, 17) by a horizontally sloping strainer (15). A long pipe (21) extends from the upper sub chamber (17) through the strainer (15) and the lower sub-chamber (16) quite far under the bottom of the barge (22) and allows the intake of cooling water from a layer that can be expected as less contaminated than the surface water. Through the strainer's angled placing impurities collected during operation slid down toward a drain to transport them away (24). The pipe (21) that pivots around hinge joints (23) on its underside can temporarily be lifted away when thoroughly cleaning the strainer (15).<IMAGE> |
