The method dries grain maize using warm gas, the grains being removed from the cob before or after the drying operation. Heating of the gas used for drying is effected both by burning the cobs after removal of the grains, and also the straw if desired, and in addition by heat recovery from the moist gas discharged after the drying operation. Fans can be mounted in the drying chamber feed and discharge conduits, while a conveyor delivers the stripped cobs from a separating mechanism to the combustion chamber. Heat exchangers for the heat recovered from the discharged gas are mounted in the conduits. |
