PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of work with simple operation, by forming the front end of a coupler in a tapered shape so that the coupler is automatically locked but released by the operation of the handle. CONSTITUTION:In case of coupling a coupler 1 on a barge to a coupler 2 in a mooring column, the axis of the coupling 1 is moved in the direction of the axis of the coupler 2 so that a tapered part 1c is led into a fitting hole 2b and fitted therein. At this time, stoppers 12, 12' are returned to their original positions by means of coil springs, and therefore, the inclined surfaces 12a, 12a' are engaged to an inclined surface 1d, thereby the coupling is completed.
