PURPOSE:To obtain a better quality of picture by forming first and second heat generating element groups between two groups of lead electrodes on both sides of a heat generating resistor and between adjacent electrodes in one group thereof in a thermal head of a thermal recorder. CONSTITUTION:Two groups of numerous lead electrodes 12a and 12b are formed on both sides of a belt-shaped heat generating resistor 11 and first heat generating element groups 11b, 11d... are formed between lead electrodes 12a and 12b opposite to each other while second heat generating element groups 11a, 11c... are formed between adjacent electrodes of the lead electrodes 12b, one of the groups. Switches A1, B1... and C1... and D1... are opened or closed based on a picture element input signal to energize the heat generating element separately in the combination obtained. This reduces the difference between picture elements 3a even in the recording image of a skew line. A better recording image also can be obtained in a cross line by continuous overlapping of the picture elements 3a. |
