PURPOSE:To prevent a gas short-circuit between fuel and air electrodes by covering the edge periphery of a fuel electrode, an air electrode, and an electrolyte layer with a flexible thin film. CONSTITUTION:The whole periphery of the edge of a unit cell pinching an electrolyte layer 2 with a fuel electrode 1A and an air electrode 1B is covered with a flexible thin film 8, and the portion contacting with individual separator 3A, 3B is brought into close contact with individual electrodes 1A, 1B. Therefore, the gas flowing through the gas passage of separators 3A, 3B is stopped by the flexible thin film 8 even if it flows through individual electrodes 1A, 1B, thereby the gas leakage can not occur and also the reverse case can not happen. A thermoplastic resin film such as Teflon is suitable for a flexible thin film 8, and the film with a thickness of 0.01-0.5mm. is used. The flexible thin film 8 can be also melted by heat on the fuel and air electrodes 1A, 1B. |
