PURPOSE:To enable the measurement of the speed of a fluid, etc. with no fear of blocking of an opening at the end of a pitot tube and a measuring hole communicated with the opening, by letting a purging fluid flow at a flow rate through pipe lines so that pressures acting on a differential pressure gage become equal, and by discharging the same from the opening at the end of the pitot tube. CONSTITUTION:Throttle valves 6 and 6' are opened under the condition that no current acts on a pitot tube 1, and a purging fluid is jetted from a total-pressure measuring port 2 and a static-pressure measuring hole 3, while a manometer 4 is adjusted so that the reading therefrom is O. At this time, the flow rates qs and qt of a purging gas within pipe lines 2a and 3a are also found by flow meters 5 and 5'. Next, the pitot tube 1 is placed in the field of a flow with mist or a pulverized body, the throttle valves 6 and 6' are adjusted again so that the quantity of the gas flowing through the pipe lines 2a and 3a turns to be qs and qt respectively, and the differential pressure is read by the U-shaped manometer 4. This differential pressure (h) is a dynamic pressure in the field of the flow, and the speed of the fluid can be determined from the known formula of the speed of the fluid. |
