PURPOSE:To eliminate the clearances between backing strips and prevent transverse cracks, by arraying bottom plates on the backing strips, and welding the backing strips to each other so as to fill the space parts formed by the clearances between the bottom plates and between the backing strips then butt welding the bottom plates. CONSTITUTION:The clearances between the contact parts of backing strips 11, 11' arrayed in conformity with the shape of the bottom plates are set at >=4mm. by taking welding rods into consideration. Auxiliary backing materials 12 of materials which do not penetrate in the stage of welding are laid on the rear side of the strips 11, 11'. Bottom plates 13, 13' are arrayed on the strips 11, 11' and the strips 11, 11' are welded to each other so as to fill the space parts (b) formed of the clearances between the adjacent plates 13, 13' and between the adjacent strips 11, 11', whereafter the bottom plates 13, 13' are subjected to butt welding with backing strips. |
