PURPOSE:To improve heating efficiency markedly by inserting multiburners into a tundish through the charging port for molten metal of a tundish cover to heat the tundish and closing the spacing between the burners and the charging port by means of a shielding plate. CONSTITUTION:Multiburners 11 are inserted into a tundish 5 through a charging port for molten steel provided in the central part of the cover 2 of the tundish to heat the tundish 5. A shielding plate 15 for waste gases of combustion is stuck integrally to the burners 11 and the cover 15 is brought into tight contact with the cover 2. The spacing between the burners 11 and the opening part of the tundish is thus closed hermetically, whereby the blowing out of high temp. waste gases of combustion through the clearance to the outside of the system is prevented, heating efficiency is improved by about 50% and the laboriousness in heating works is eliminated. |
