PURPOSE:To coil a spiral thin metallic strip having a uniform thickness superposedly in a horizontal state by placing the upper side surface of a rotating body of a circular truncated cone shape and the opening part of a nozzle in parallel so as to face each other in a horizontal state and forming the opening part gradually larger toward the large diameter part of the rotating body. CONSTITUTION:The top side surface of a metallic rotating body 11 of a circular truncated cone shape is disposed horizontally, and the opening part 12A of a nozzle 12 is so placed as to face the top side surface in parallel therewith. The width (t) of the part 12A is made gradually larger the nearer the large diameter side of the body 11. While a cooling medium is first admitted into the body 11, the body 11 is rotated and molten metal 13 is flowed from the part 12A of the nozzle 12 onto the top side surface of the body 11. The molten metal 13 contacting with the body 11 solidifies to a thin metallic strip 14, which is stripped from the body 11 and is coiled. Since the body 11 is of a circular truncated cone shape, the speed of production of the strip 14 differs in the respective transverse positions on account of a difference in peripheral speeds so that the strip is coiled spirally and superposedly in a horizontal state. |
