PURPOSE:To improve both efficiency of inspection and reliability of result of inspection, by setting in parallel ultrasonic probes at least >=3 areas of an inspection line and feeding successively the objects to be inspected into the inspection line with an interval exceeding the largest one of attaching spaces of the ultrasonic probes. CONSTITUTION:Detectors 16A, 16B-19A and 19B are provided around probes 12-15 which inspect a specimen I such as a metallic bar, a metallic pipe, etc. and at tow areas before and after the probes to feeding directions (a) and (b) of the specimen I. The tip part of the specimen I which is fed into an inspection line 1 is within a space D4 between detectors 8 and 9. Then the distance D5 between said tip part and the detector 9 is set larger than the largest one of attachment spaces D1-D3 of probes 12-15. In such a way, the preceding and next specimens are fed successively into the inspection line 1, and consecutive two specimens are inspected at one time by the probes 12-15. |
