The brake is attached to the boom of a sailing boat and it passes through the rope (9) controlling boom movement. The brake is made from a helical tube (3) of one or more superimposed turns, and close together. The tube entry and outlet have two tubular arms (2,4) pointing tangentially to the helical tube. These arms have tapered outward ends to ease rope movement. Fitted to the helicoidal tube is an attachment (5) for the brake on to the boom, fitted on the periphery and at the intersection point of the arm axes.
|
