PURPOSE:To enable an accurate testing by mounting a upper tensile cell of a tensile rupture testing cell for granular solid in such a manner as to be movable upward whie a lower cell is carried on a load meter in place. CONSTITUTION:The upper tensile cell 9 of tensile testing cells 9 and 10 is mounted movably upward on a frame 11 while the lower cell 10 is fixed on a base plate 13 fastened in place with a bolt 12 and carried on a load meter such as load cell 14. Therefore, a compaction pressure W generated on a tensile fracture surface A-A by a load 5 in a granular solid layer packed into the testing cells 9 and 10 can be calculated accurately by W=ae.A+W1+W2 from a measured value from the load cell 14. The tensile force in the rupture is measured with a load cell 7 and determined with a recorder 8. In the equation, (W) represents the measured load with the load meter, (ae) a vertical stress on the tensile rupture surface, (A) the cross sectional area of the tensile fracture surface, (W1) the weight of the lower cell and attachments and (W2) the weight of granular solid in the lower cell. |
