In car wash systems, drying units are used which have at least one ventilator driven by an electric motor. If the successive vehicles passing through the drying unit are widely spaced from one another by for example more than one average vehicle length, the speed of revolution of the electric motor is reduced between the passage of the successive vehicles through the drying unit in order to save energy.
