Magnetic core consisting of a solid soft-magnetic material

A magnetic core (14) is described which is provided as a component of an attracting or operating magnet, for example for electrical switching apparatuses. The magnetic core (14) consists of solid material and is designed in a U-shape. The yoke part (27) located between the pole limbs (25 and 26) has holes (34) which extend at right angles to the intended direction (35) of the magnetic flux. In contrast to the continuous air gaps which are otherwise normal, the holes have been found to be more favourable with respect to the low-voltage reliability and the drop-out delay which can be achieved. The magnetic core (14) is especially suitable for operation with DC current in an economy circuit. <IMAGE>
