Process for producing a sintered body

In a process for producing a sintered body, either a filler material, such as a graphite fibre strand, is impregnated with an organic silicon compound of high molecular weight or a filler material containing such an organic silicon compound is mixed to give a mixture which is then moulded, and the filler material impregnated in this way or the mixture moulded in this way is subjected to a heat treatment in an oxidising atmosphere, in order to render the organic silicon compound non-combustible. The material is then subjected to a further heat treatment in an inert atmosphere in order to produce a sintered body. According to an embodiment, the further heat treatment can be carried out in an inert pressurised atmosphere, if necessary.
