Such filter cartridges are used for dechlorination, degassing, etc. The active element in the filter cartridges is generally granulated activated charcoal. The known filter cartridges have too short a contact time. By means of the invention it is possible to create filter cartridges which simultaneously have a simple construction and also a degree of efficiency which is improved many times. This is achieved in that an impermeable partition wall is provided between interior wall and exterior wall, which partition wall lies at roughly half the radial distance relative to the interior wall and the exterior wall and which is sealed at one end to one of the covers in a manner proof against the medium, and additionally in that the exterior wall is porous in a first region facing one cover and is impermeable in its second region facing the other cover, and thirdly in that the interior wall is porous in its first region facing one cover and is impermeable in its second region facing the other cover. <IMAGE>
