In a process for gas production and metal recovery in a molten bath reactor, particularly in a molten iron bath, gas is produced on the one hand by introducing a carbonaceous fuel and oxygen into a molten bath material, particularly a molten iron bath, of the molten bath reactor, a coal gas consisting essentially of CO and H2 being produced, and metal is recovered on the other hand, by adding metal carriers to the molten bath. As the carbonaceous fuel, fuels having a low content of the metal to be recovered are at least in part introduced into the molten bath material. The metal dissolves in the melt of the bath material, is concentrated and is drawn off after a certain concentration has been reached. |
