TERMINAL PART OF AIR-GAP TYPE OPTICAL FIBER CORE

PURPOSE:To apply ordinal terminal processing technique as it is by adherently applying reinforcing coat at least to a part of an optical fiber strand exposed from a secondary coat. CONSTITUTION:The periphery of the optical fiber strand 1 is coated with a pipe like secondary coat 2 consisting of nylon or the like through an air gap. In said optical fiber core 3, the prescribed length of optical fiber core strand 1 is exposed from the secondary coat 2 at the terminal part and the reinforcing coat 4 is adherently applied to the periphery of the optical fiber strand 1 under a condition that the optical fiber strand 1 is still exposed at its leading end. Molded nylon or the like is used as the reinforcing coat 4 for example. Thus the ordinal terminal processing technique is applied as it is.
