PURPOSE:To simplify the production of a multifiber connector and to improve its efficiency by arranging and forming plural parallel light converting or focusing lenses in a single material. CONSTITUTION:In the multifiber connector 1, flat lens-like plural lens parts 3 (three lenses in the figure) having an approximately semispherical shape are formed on one side of a transparent glass plate 2 having a plane parallelepiped shape in one united body with the plate at an interval so that the lens parts 3 are embedded in the glass plate 2 and the flat side of the lenses 3 are made to coincide with plate surface 2A, and a supporting member 4 to position and fix the points of optical fibers 5 is connected to the other surface 2B of the plate 2. The refractive index of each lens part 3 is distributed so as to be maximum at the center point 11 on the external surface 2A of the plate 2 and reduced at the rate of an about square in the peripheral direction. The relation of the lens diameter and focal distance to the thickness width W1 of the plate 2 is selected so that diffused luminous flux projected from the optical fibers 5 connected to the other side of the plate 2 by making both axes coincide with each other is converted into parallel luminous flux 6B and projected from the one side 2A of the plate 2. |
