PURPOSE:To improve the high-temperature preservation characteristic and the electric-discharge flatness of a battery by decreasing the amount of active fluorine which can oxidize potassium iodide. CONSTITUTION:An organic electrolyte battery is constituted by using a negative active material 2 made of a light metal such as lithium, and a positive active material 5 made of a carbon fluoride represented by the equation, (C2F)n. In such a battery, the positive active material 5 is either prepared from a carbon fluoride (C2F)n containing below 0.08wt% of, preferably below 0.005wt% of, active fluorine which can oxidize potassium iodide, or prepared by treating a carbon fluoride (C2F)n so that is contains below 0.08wt% of active fluorine. As a result, not only the high-temperature preservation characteristic but also electric-discharge characteristics such as the electric-discharge voltage flatness of the battery can be improved. |
