A-14,154 A FLUIDIZED BED HEAT EXCHANGER HAVING A FLUID COOLED AIR DISTRIBUTOR PLATE ASSEMBLY A fluidized bed heat exchanger in which an air distributor plate assembly is disposed within an enclosure for supporting a bed of particulate material. The plate assembly consists of a plurality of horizontal, spaced tubes connected by a plurality of elongated fins. A plurality of air distributors extend perpendicular to the plate assembly and respectively register with through openings formed in the fins for receiving air and discharging the air in an upward direction to fluidize the particulate material. The lengths of the air distributors are such that the plate assembly is insulated from the high temperatures occurring in the bed and water is passed through the tubes of the plate assembly to cool it.
