PURPOSE:To triplicate the number of picture elements, and increase the accuracy of a cathode-ray tube for a display light source by providing the cathode-ray tube with the same number as the number of plural multicolor phosphor dots of electron guns in positions corresponding to said plural multicolor phosphor dots. CONSTITUTION:A black-light absorbing film 15 made of a graphite matter or the like is applied to the surface of one end of a cathode-ray tube except three differently-colored phosphor dots 11R, 11G and 11B. Three electron guns 13R, 13G and 13B are positioned at the other end of a cathode-ray tube 10 correspondingly to the three phosphor dots 11R, 11G and 11B. A non-focusing flood electron beam 14R is discharged from an electron gun 13R, and irradiates and stimulates the above red-color emitting phosphor dot 11R so as to produce a red light spot 16R. In the same manner as above, the electron gun 13G and 13B discharge non- focusing flood electron beams 14G and 14B, which irradiate and stimulate a green-color emitting and a blue-color emitting phosphor dot 11G and 11B so as to produce a green and a blue light spot 16G and 16B, respectively. |
