A plate is rotatably mounted in a table top 1. The plate is intended to support an apparatus or the equivalent and has to be able to be set at different inclination positions in dependence on the setting of an actuating member 6, 7. For this, the plate is coupled to the table top via gear members which comprise an elongated element 5a which, in the table top, is mounted in a rotary bearing 5b for the purpose of forming a short element part l1 between the first free end 5a' of the element and the rotary bearing 5b and a long element part l2 between the second end 5a" of the element and the rotary bearing. The first end of the element can co-operate with the actuating member and its second end is connected to the plate at a further rotary bearing 10. The actuating member includes a screw which is provided with a rotatable wheel or the equivalent and which is arranged in a screw threading which is arranged through the table top. The wheel or the equivalent is located at the upper surface of the table top and the end of the screw actuates the first end of the element by bearing against it. The further rotary bearing 10 includes a member 15 which is provided with an elongated groove 14 and which is attached to the plate. The second end of the element is mounted by means of a bearing journal 11 which extends in the said elongated groove.
