PURPOSE:To charge a rate, which corresponds to the quantity of a used recording form, to the calling subscriber side, by not only charging the communication time of picture information but also charging the quantity of recording form to be used. CONSTITUTION:When a communication line is set and a called subscriber side 2 hooks off the handset, the first charging device 13 starts charging. When picture transmission is started, the second charging device 15 is instructed to start charging. The device 15 detects a synchronizing signal generated for every one scanning line in the transmission picture signal of a facsimile device 1 to count the length of an original and forecasts the quantity of the recording form to be used in a receiver on the basis of this length and generate charging data. When the end of picture transmission is detected, charging of the device 15 is terminated. When the second original is transmitted next, charging of the device 15 is started after charging data of the device 15 is stored in a controller 16. When line disconnection is discriminated, the charging operation of the device 13 is terminated, and charging data of devices 13 and 15 are stored in the controller 16. |
