PURPOSE:To obtain a calculator where merits of the abacus operation and an electronic calculator are used effectively, by using an abacus type entry part as a numeric input part and providing a converter which converts the position signal due to movement of positions of counters to an electric signal, keys for multiplication, division, etc., and a display. CONSTITUTION:An entry part 1 has an abacus constitution where one digit consists of 4 counters 3 for counting 1 and one counter for counting 5 which are inserted through a shaft 2 and n-number of digits are provided. Respective shafts 2 are provided with counter detectors 11-15, 21-25...n1-n5 which detect upward movement of counters 3 and downward movement of counters 4, and counter detectors are turned off when they are covered with counters, and they are turned on when they are not covered with counters, and their detection outputs are converted to electric signals and are inputted to a controlling part 8. A key input part 7 includes function keys of multiplication X, division divided by , operation indication =, etc., and numeric values inputted in the entry part 1 and operation results due to a CPU 9 are displayed in a numeric display 6. By this constitution, addition and subtraction due to movement of positions of counters are performed in the form of an abacus, and complicated calculations such as multiplication and division for numeric values inputted in the abacus entry part are performed by key operations. |
