PURPOSE:To improve the rectangularity of the hysteresis loop, by a method wherein a rare earth intermetallic compound is subjected to a solid solution treatment at a temperature more than 1,000 deg.C in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, slowly cooled to ordinary temperatures at a cooling rate of 0.5-20 deg.C/min, and is then aged. CONSTITUTION:Such a rare earth intermetallic compound is employed thatn when it is represented by a composition formula: R(CO1-u-V-WCuuFeVMW)Z (wherein R represents a combination of one or two or more kinds of rare earth metals around Sm, Pr, Ce; and M represents a combination of one or two or more kinds of Ti, V, Zr, Nb, Hf, Ta, Cr, Mo), the composition ratio range is as follows: 0.01<=u<=0.20; 0.1<=V<=0.5; 0.001<=W<=0.15; and 6.5<=Z<=9.0. This rare earth intermetallic compound is subjected to a solid solution treatment at a temperature more than 1,000 deg.C in a non-oxidizing atmosphere and slowly cooled from 980 deg.C to ordinary temperatures at a cooling rate of 0.5-20 deg.C/min and is then aged. |
