PURPOSE:To enable a printing of a high quality with a invariably constant print density by controlling the replenishment to an ink ribbon with an ink based on the results of the computation of a print density by counting the number of print characters. CONSTITUTION:An impact type printer which performs a printing on a printing paper through an ink ribbon while provided with a mechanism for replenishing the ink ribbon with an ink is equipped with an ink replenishment control circuit 20 which operates by receiving a comparison signal S6 collating a type position signal S4 and a print data of a print memory in a print control circuit 2 and an ink replenishing mechanism 21 which operates by receiving a drive signal S7 therefrom. This control circuit 20 counts the number of characters printed at every four columns to compute a print density whereby pulse motors 29 and 31 of the ink replenishing mechanism 21 advances by one step. In this manner, ink is replenished in the amount equivalent to 4 characters. |
