PURPOSE:To obtain a light coupling device excellent in low loss, workability, economical efficiency, and easy handling by forming a bend formation part at an optional position of an optical fiber and arranging a subwaveguide embedding an O/E converter on its outside around the outer periphery of the bend formation part. CONSTITUTION:The bend formation part with a fixed radius of curvature is formed on a light coupling part of a continuous optical fiber 2a, the subwaveguide 9 consisting of a tube-like transparent material is inserted into the outer periphery of the optical fiber 2a so as to surround the bend formation part and to adhere tightly to the outer periphery of the optical fiber 2a and the O/E converter 4 is embedded in the outside of the subwaveguide 9. The subwaveguide 9 is formed by a transparent material such as glass or plastic. When light receiving capacity is insufficient only by one O/E converter 4 embedded in the subwaveguide 9, >=3 O/E converters may be embedded. Consequently, an optical signal can be extracted from an optical fiber transmission line or signal data can be sent from the outside to the transmission line. |
