NEW MATERIAL:The antibiotic substances KA-6606 XVIII of formula (R1 is CH3; R2 is H) and KA-6606 XIX (R1 is H; R2 is CH3). The KA-6606 XVIII has the following characteristics: appearance, white powder; molecular weight, 318; molecular formula C14H30O4N4; specific rotation,[alpha]<22>D=+146 deg. (c=1, H2O); solubility, extremely easily soluble in water, easily soluble in methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol, etc., insoluble in chloroform, etc.; color reaction, positive to ninhydrin reaction, Leyden-Smith reaction, negative to Sakaguchi reaction, maltol reaction, etc.; stability, stable at 2.0-8.0pH. USE:Antibacterial agent effective to Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria. PROCESS:Bacterial strain belonging to Saccharopolyspora genus and capable of producing KA-6606 substance, e.g. Saccharopolyspora hirsuta KC-6606 (FERM-P No. 3912), is cultured at 20-38 deg.C under aerobic conditions. |
