PURPOSE:To attain self-check of an optical repeater surely, by decreasing the strength of optical signal for check with the provision of an internal loss in a self-check optical path of a photoswitch element. CONSTITUTION:In normal repeater operation of an optical repeater as shown in a figure, a rhombus prism 17 is not present in a position as shown in the figure with a plunger. Thus, the optical signal from an optical fiber 1 is led to an optical receiver R via triangle prisms 13, 14, and the optical signal from an optical transmitter T is led to an outout side optical fiber 2 via the other surface of the prisms 13, 14. At self-check, the prism 17 is placed a position as shown in the figure, the optical signal from the fiber 1 is led to the fiber 2 via the prism 17, the optical signal of the transmitter T is led to the receiver R via the prism 17 for self-check. The optical signal of the transmitter T is brought to the same degree of level as the optical signal level from the fiber 1 with an optical loss film 17a and applied to the receiver R. |
