<p>To overcome problems of thread imperfection between the threaded and plain parts of a metal screw, a circular fillet (5) is made at the thread junction such that the thread blends smoothly into it. The fillet diameter is 1.5 times the thread pitch, and its base corresponds to that of the thread. Part of the fillet is aligned with the edge of the thread, the opposite part is concave, turning outwards to join the plain shank, and the angle between the tangents at these points is 40 degrees.</p> |
