The invention relates to a file for papers and documents. Such a file contains a cardboard sleeve of parallelepipedal shape and a jacket, which may also consist of cardboard. This jacket, which can be drawn off from the sleeve, contains a member for binding the papers. In such files, because of the numerous components, high costs arise in production and assembly. A high degree of wear also arises at the edges of the jacket during repeated extraction from and insertion into the sleeve. Furthermore, a substantial space is required, difficulties also arising on introduction of a jacket into the sleeve. In addition, such files are not suitable for the attachment of binding members. According to the invention, it is therefore proposed that the file consist of an essentially parallelepipedal container produced from rigid plastic, its widest wall being connected in an articulated manner to the spine (3) which, for its part, is connected in an articulated manner to the remaining part of the container, this part forming a small basin and its base being provided with a binding member (9) for the papers. <IMAGE>
