Temperature sensor for an internal combustion engine

A temperature sensor is proposed which serves for measuring the temperature in the combustion chamber of internal combustion engines. The temperature sensor essentially comprises a tubular metal housing, an insulating body partially embraced by the metal housing, and a thermocouple applied to the outside of the insulating body; the limbs of the thermocouple are constructed as conductor tracks which overlap at the measurement point, are led out on the connection side from the region exposed to the combustion chamber, are covered by an electrical insulating layer with a maximum thickness of only 200 mu m, and preferably have a ceramic support frame. In a preferred embodiment, the temperature sensor can form a structural unit together with a spark plug or glow plug and can be used to measure processes on the spark plug or glow plug, or also to control processes in the combustion chamber of internal combustion engines. <IMAGE>
