Gear-change and/or charging pump for an automatic transmission

In an automatic transmission which is combined into one unit with a speed or torque converter, the housing of the charging and gear-change pump is attached to the converter-side wall of the transmission. The inner rotor of the pump, which is designed as an internal gear pump, is mounted on a supporting sleeve projecting from the inner wall and supporting the stator of the converter and is driven on the principle of the dog clutch by the hub of the converter pump impeller surrounding the supporting sleeve. The pressure oil to be fed into the converter by the pump is forced radially inwards by the high pressure part of the pump working space and - at least in large part - axially through the bearing of the inner rotor, the said bearing being designed as a multi-surface sliding bearing, into the annular gap between the hub and the supporting sleeve.
