A device for hanging up elongate articles, such as boats, surf boards or the like which can be pulled up to the ceiling and let down again, consists of at least two straps (1) and four retaining elements mounted on the ceiling. Each strap is attached to one of the retaining elements (2) only at one end and is passed in a sliding manner through an opening in a further retaining element (3). The strap can be fixed in a clamping closure mounted on the further retaining element. <IMAGE>
