An anti-theft device for an air pump (12) is proposed, the pump handle (10) being equipped with a security piece (14), if appropriate mountable at a later date, having a receiving orifice (70), into which the hook-shaped holder (18) conventionally provided on the frame tube (16) can penetrate for engagement into an engagement recess (50) on the handle (10). The handle (10) equipped with the security part (14) is safeguarded against unauthorised removal from the holder (18) in that the cable (22) of a cable lock (20) is inserted through a passage orifice (62) intersecting the receiving orifice (70), the cable (22) then bearing against the carrier (18) at a location opposite the carrier head (54). <IMAGE>
