An image transmission system is specified which provides for high-capacity image transmission. The image transmission system has a switching unit with several input lines and several output lines, by means of which signals input via the input lines can be transmitted to at least one selected output line, a memory, connected to the switching unit, for storing image information items, at least one image information output unit, in each case connected to an input line, and at least one image recording unit, connected in each case to an output line.
