PURPOSE:To perform a process in response to the noise component characteristics and to improve the binary coding accuracy, by dividing an image pickup screen into plural regions and setting the threshold level to each of the divided regions to carry out the binary coding of an image pickup signal. CONSTITUTION:The video signal detected by a detector 1 is amplified by an amplifier 2. One of the amplified video signals is applied to a low-pass filter 3; while the other signal is used to an input of one side of a comparator 7. A scan screen M is divided into 9 regions (3 in vertical and horizontal directions each) for example. Therefore the region of vertical (Y) direction is decided by an output PY of a Y direction divider 4; while the divided regions of horizontal (X) direction of each horizontal scanning line are decided by an output PX of an X direction divider 5. Then the part of oblique lines is detected on the screen M. The comparator 7 compares the video signal supplied from the amplifier 2 with a level signal supplied from a dividing switch 6. Thus a video signal is binary coded. |
