A process or equipment for heat recovery, in which the medium to be heated is fed into a return line from a radiator or the like of a heat-generating device and, heated by the latter, is returned again via a forward line, is intended, inter alia, to open up the possibility of utilising hitherto unexploited means or chemical processes for heat generation, which produce the smallest possible quantity of waste or re-usable waste and relieve the environment. For this purpose, the medium to be heated is passed in the heat-generating device through an oxidising medium, preferably in loops (15) of the return line (11), and in a loop shell (16), surrounding the loops (15), through readily oxidisable metal filings (14) to the forward line (9). The heat-generating device (10) consists of a vessel (12), whose interior (J) is penetrated by parts (15) of the return line (11) and parts (16) of the forward line (9) and is filled with an oxidising medium (14) which surrounds the parts (15 and 16). <IMAGE>
