The invention relates to a thermoplastic moulding composition built up from a copolymer A and an aromatic polyester B. The (co)polymer A comprises predominantly methyl methacrylate and is present in a proportion of from 1 to 15% by weight, based on the moulding composition of A + B. The aromatic polyester comprises b1) from 10 to 90 mol%, based on B, of recurring units of the general formula <IMAGE> in which: -X- is -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -SO-, -CO-, an alkylene group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and/or an alkylidene group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R'<1>, R'<2>, R'<3> and R'<4>, which may be identical or different, are a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and b2) from 90 to about 10 mol% of recurring units of the general formula <IMAGE> in which -X-, R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R'<1>, R'<2>, R'<3> and R'<4> are as defined above. Component B is used in a proportion of from 85 to 99% by weight, based on the moulding composition. The moulding composition may optionally contain conventional additives and is used for the production of mouldings.
