A process and an apparatus for the formation and processing of a stack of textile blanks relate particularly to the production of bed linen. In this, the economic outlay in the work phases preceding the sewing process is reduced in that the number of necessary working operations between the completed finishing of the textile web and the sewing process is decreased and use is made of an apparatus according to the invention, in which cutting is carried out simultaneously during the folding operation to form a vertical pile. For this, the folding blade is equipped with a respective edge groove and two horizontal band knives are arranged. A vertical pile of unfolded or prefolded blank parts is obtained. The blank is thus introduced for the first time into the preliminary-stage operation and already prefabricated blank parts are transported to the various end-product operations and completed there. <IMAGE>
