A rope drum (40) for the rope drive of a window lifter, having a conical winding portion (54), is proposed. This ensures that, as the rope correspondingly winds round the rope drum (40), the rope pull generated by the rope drum (40) is at its greatest when the window is closed or almost closed. The frictional force between the window and gaskets, which is increased in this region, is therefore overcome without further action, even when the drive motor is of low power. <IMAGE>
