The invention relates to a worm conveyor which is arranged in the bottom region of a mixing container of a mixing device for making meat and sausage products and which makes a considerable contribution to improving the mode of operation of the mixing device, components of the mixing product which pass into the bottom region being conveyed by the worm conveyor into another region of the mixing container, pressed up here and pass into the region of action of the stirring mechanism again. At the same time, the worm conveyor advantageously carries out the task of a mechanical emptying of the mixing container, being able after reversing its direction of rotation to press the mixture or mixing product which has been completely mixed in the mixing container to the emptying connection piece. In an advantageous embodiment, it is envisaged that the trough with worm conveyor is connected, in a manner guiding the conveying flow of the mixing product, to a conveying element working towards a further meat processing device, e.g. a mincing machine.
