PURPOSE:To manufacture a high quality crystal in a high yield and to considerably reduce the manufacturing cost by heating a beryl crystal synthesized by a flux method under a temp. gradient. CONSTITUTION:A beryl crystal synthesized by a flux metod is heat treated at a temp. above the m.p. of the included flux. By the heat treatment the residual included flux grains are melted again and concentrated on a part just under the surface of the crystal. By removing the surface layer together with the included flux by polishing, the desired beryl crystal is obtd. Li2O.1.25MoO3 or the like is used as said flux, and the synthesized beryl crystal is an emerald crystal having a composition 3BeO.Al2O3.6SiO2.0.01Cr2O3 or the like. |
