PURPOSE:To enable high density recording with high reliability by using an ''Invar '' type alloy as the material of the substrate of a magnetic recording medium having a thin Co-Cr alloy film and suitable for vertical magnetization recording. CONSTITUTION:An Invar type alloy which is one of a series of alloys including a 36%Ni-60%Fe alloy is used as the material of a substrate 4, and a vertically magnetizable film 5 made of a Co-Cr alloy is formed on the surface of the substrate 4. Since the ''Invar '' type alloy is a magnetic body with small coercive force, it is not required to form a conventional ''Permalloy '' film under the vertically magnetizable Co-Cr film. |
