PURPOSE:To produce easy-to-write recording media having high density continuously by providing a transparent physical developing nucleus layer on a transparent substrate, and physically developing the same thereby forming a surface having reflective metallic gloss. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium (precursor of a recording medium) to be subjected to physical developing has a physical nucleus layer 2 on a substrate 1, and is laminated with a metallic compd. layer 3 on the layer 2. When physical development is applied on the precursor of the recording medium, a recording layer 6 contg. reflective components is formed. When high-density energy beams 7 are irradiated from the direction of the substrate 1, the irradiated parts of the layer 6 are melted or blown off, by which pits are formed, and the reflecttances in the pit parts are made lower than the reflectance of the recording layer 6 contg. the reflective components, whereby the information is written. By utilizing the reflectivity of the layer 6, the information of the pits read out with the light (the same or dissimilar light) weaker than the light for writing. |
