<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture steel for a wire rod, which is excellent in its wire elongating property, by adding a flux consisting of CaO, SiO and Al2O3, to molten steel containing C, Si, Mn, P, S, Al, etc. of a limited composition quantity, and executing a vacuum degassing treatment. CONSTITUTION:To molten steel consisting of 0.3-0.8wt% C, 0.1-0.6% Si, 0.3- 0.9% Mn, <=0.030% P, <=0.030% S, <=0.003% Al, and Fe and inevitable impurities as remains, a flux having composition of 20-50% CaO, 40-70% SiO2 and <=20% Al2O3 is added by >=0.3kg per 1t of molten steel, and a vacuum degassing treatment is executed. As a result, the quantity of oxygen in the steel is reduced, the quantity of production of inclusion consisting of an oxide is reduced, also composition of the inclusion has abundant ductility, and steel for a wire rod, which is excellent in its wire elongating property is obtained. Also, the composition component of said molten steel is necessary for obtaining a necessary characteristic when a wire rod has been manufactured.</p> |
