Bacterial cells having alcholic fermentation capability and attached to e.g. pulverized vermiculite, activated charcoal, zeolite, etc. are cultured together with agglomerating yeasts in the fermentor 1 under fluidizing conditions. Since the alcoholic fermentation is carried out by the combined action of the bacteria and the yeasts, the yield of alcohol can be improved. The fermented liquid is taken out continuously from the top of the fermentor after the fermentation. The bacteria having alcoholic fermentation capability is preferably Zymomonas mobilis having adhesivity to the carrier.
