<p>Sheets of material based on a hydraulic binder and natural or synthetic mineral fibres are coated on at least one side with a layered coating consisting of the same hydraulic binder reinforced with natural or synthetic organic fibres. The structured coating may be applied by spray, brush, roller, etc., and esp. by means of a felt fabric mounted on a drum. The core sheet is e.g. of asbestos-cement, glass fibre-cement, etc. and the coating layer is of cement reinforced with polypropylene, cellulose, wood, polyethylene, polyacrylonitrile, sisal, polyamide, polyester, cotton, dralon, perlon, nylon, viscose, kraft, coconut, bagasse,bamboo, jute or other organic natural or synthetic fibres. Typical coating compsn. contains 10-90 wt.% hydraulic mineral or silicate binder, 0.5-20 wt.% organic fibres, 0.005-10 wt.% rheology adjusters, 0.1-0.5 wt.% thickeners, up to 55 wt.% water and pigments, and opt. traces of antifoam agents, humectants, fungicides and synthetic resin dispersions. Process is esp. useful for treating asbestos-cement and similar constructional materials to reduce the risk of release of hazardous mineral fibres from these materials during use. FL.</p> |
