PURPOSE:To form an electrolyte holding body as a stable matrix material against alkaline carbonate by treating a ceramics porous body previously formed into a plate shape with a lithium salt. CONSTITUTION:In a fuel battery which comprises an anode and a cathode and an electrolytic body for holding an electrolyte arranged between said both electrodes, and electrochemically generates electricity by respectively feeding fuel and an oxidizing agent to a fuel chamber arranged on the anode side and an oxidizing agent chamber arranged on the cathode side, it is possible to obtain a matrix material very stable aganist alkaline carbonate by heat-treating a ceramics porous body in the temperature ranging from that 100 deg.C lower than the melting point of lithium salt to that more than the melting point while allowing said porous body to make contact with the lithium salt such as lithium hydroxide, lithium carbonate, lithium nitrate and lithium chloride. Further, for said ceramics porous body, alumina, zirconia, coalite, magnesia and titania are used. |
